Drunk and Passed out on the Streets of Taipei
The good thing about Taiwan is its quite hot outside all the time, even at night. How is this a good thing? Because when you are drunk and passed out on the street, you can have quite a good sleep. Yes, last night there was this foreigner sleeping on the stairs of the KTV, accompanied by his friend. It all started last night when I went to a company dinner at a KTV, there was a large room rented out accompanied with 2 tables of food and a on-hand waitress to replenish drinks. Since I got there late, they insisted I have a glass of wine with EACH of them. I was like...ok, as I had never got drunk before. Unfortunately, I had also not had dinner as had been quite busy the whole day and it was around 9 p.m. and I was starving. Regardless, in my zeal I ignored this fact and began drinking a glass with each person. There was about 12-14 ppl there (its a small company), and I think around my 10th glass or so I got really hungry and began eating some of the desserts on the table. Than I was invited for another drinking round :( but after about my 4th drink I couldn't hold it in, and all the dessert I had eaten came coming right back out :( What a mess of the beautiful KTV floor, alas what a shame that was.
Needless to say I didnt feel so good so took a nap on the sofa, the room was great, stocked with everything including its own private bathroom, but unfortuantely someone else was already in there throwing up as well....i didn't get the chance to do any karoke, although I watched others do it....granted the songs were in Chinese it was still quite entertaining, although maybe being dead drunk played a factor in it.
The rest of the details are quite hazy, but after a nap, i was carried outside by my colleagues who complained how heavy I was, but I think they got a great workout :) I was still too sick though to take a taxi home although it was probably around 1 a.m., not sure as I was asleep at the time. My friend basically did all the work for me and got me home, I just got to sleep the whole nite and get carried and escorted everywhere :D I must say this, do not under-estimate the chinese imported French wine, it says 12% but must be stronger....My friend tells me it was quite amusing as its rare to see a Foreigner passed out drunk outside a KTV, far more common with the locals. I feel I am helping do my part to show that Canadians are regular ppl too who can really fit into the customs and traditions of the region :D :-)
Well, you will have to wait for another post once my hangover passes.
ciao,
